TRR assists Bobby Bones down the Payette.

Greetings everyone,

FYI several of us had a chance last summer to assist  Lonnie Bedwell, Bobby Bones, and the National Geographic and BBC film crew produce a segment of the 12 part  “Breaking Bobby Bones” TV series, which is set to air on the National Geographic Channel starting Monday, then Weekly on Sundays. There’s a good interview of Bobby you can watch in the Move United attachment below. (I am not sure yet exactly when Lonnie’s segment will air, and will advise again when I learn that).

Here’s some highlights of what we did in case you are interested:

It was a very interesting and rewarding experience. Dave Robey and I worked several months with the film crew planning the event prior to the shooting. Cascade Raft and Kayak also assisted, including allowing us to base at their location on the Payette.. Once we knew what they were looking for we identified what sections of the river we would use, and the specific locations we would set up for filming.

When the crew arrived to Idaho, we spent almost a full week with them.  We provided kayak safety support, raft support for the film crew, and our knowledge of the river. First a day scouting the locations and river from the road, and another day running the Main Payette with the crew and checking things out along the way.  We then filmed Lonnie without Bobby Bones on a Main Payette run.

We then spent a day with Bobby and filmed on flat water at the “Gutter” in Horseshoe Bend (that’s on the photo below). Then we filmed him on the Main Payette from mm77 down (the same run we will do next Saturday with our Chapter).  We wrapped up by taking the film crew on a Main Payette run.

Bobby Bones Interview On YouTube

A new show premieres on National Geographic on May 31 called "Breaking Bobby Bones". In each half-hour episode, Bobby pursues his own mantra—Fight. Grind. Repeat. Two of those episodes delve into the world of adaptive sports.

We interviewed Bobby Bones, an American radio and television personality, best known for hosting the nationally syndicated The Bobby Bones Show and for his role as a mentor on American Idol on ABC, about the new show and the episode with Move United Warfighters Ambassador Lonnie Bedwell.
